Dear Reader,

As a child and young adult growing up in Upstate, New York, I LOVED to read. Not because I saw myself in those stories because most often I didn't. I loved to read because of my love of adventure---to be transported to another world, another place and time with a character whose story and voice captivated me so much that I didn't want my time with them to end. This was the treasure that awaited me in every story. It never occurred to me---until much older---that I could create worlds and characters that held that same power. Now I write because I want to contribute and participate in life in a meaningful way. I write because there are so many stories left to be told and worlds left to explore. I write because I am always in search of truth. I write because whether or not we come from similar worlds, we all come to a book with the same goal: to be drawn in by characters who make so deep an impression on us that we carry them in our hearts for the rest of our lives. I write because my readers inspire me to create those kinds of characters. Reading is all about the journey, and I can't wait to see what we discover along the way.
